 A familiar sight in the Red sea, a Clown fish swims close to anemones Credit: Rob Atherton Next up on our holiday to Jordan was Aqaba, where we spent a few days on the coast and I enjoyed some underwater sightseeing. I've done a lot of scuba diving in Egypt, most recently in Taba which is just a few miles across the water from Aqaba. We stayed at a little place near the Marine Park to the south of Aqaba. This is where the majority of the dive sites are along with some public beaches.  The sun sets over rooftops in Petra, Jordan Credit: Rob Atherton Most people know of the renowned Red City of Petra, the spectacular monastery carved into the hillside is an image that many people would recognise instantly even if they had no idea where it was. There is so much more on offer in this small country than most initially realise, and many of its other sights have attracted little attention from the outside world. Many of the attractions of a holiday to Jordan can be reached easily from the capital city, Amman. Amman is closely linked to the city of Aqaba by the Kings Highway, and a drive of around 4 hours. |
