Travelling Made for Two: 10 of the Best Couple Travel Bloggers

She told him to ask for directions two miles back, but he wouldn't listen... the idyllic life of travel blogger couples

Experiences are often better when they’re shared, and that’s definitely the case for travel bloggers, who manage to rope in their partners for the journey (and let’s face it, you wouldn’t have to be bribed to go and see the world).

The great thing about blogger pairs is that you get double the opinions and advice about visiting different countries, and sometimes double the amount of cool articles. Here are some of our favourite duos that would rather have a couples' holiday:

Mr. and Mrs. Globetrot is the travel journal of Julia and Yuriy Manchik, a married couple from Seattle who are professional photographers. They set off around the world after their wedding, with the motto that: ‘It would take more than a lifetime to see everything, so we think it’s best we start early’. Recently they’ve been checking out Thailand, but they’ve also spent time in Ukraine, Budapest, Turkey and France, to name but a few.

Contemporary Nomad has been part of the blogosphere since 2007, when Tony and Thomas decided to quit their jobs and become a full-time travelling couple. Combining Tony’s ‘particularly bizarre love of medieval city walls which is bordering on obsession’ and Thomas’ passion for nature, they’ve explored India, Sri Lanka and China, amongst others. Check out their cool section on what $1 buys in different countries.

Culture Addict/History Nerd follows Toronto-based travellers Nicole and Gary Winchester. They combined their passion for exploring new countries and began blogging in January 2011. A year later, they’ve chalked up visits to places as diverse as Portugal, Morocco and Greece, with frequent video posts. History buffs will love their visit to the location of filming for the epic series Game of Thrones, in Malta.

Manali + Terry unsurprisingly charts the adventures of Manali and Terry, who married in India in 2008 and gave up their day jobs a year later to travel. So far they’ve been to 27 different countries, so you could say it’s been a success! Their blog is a mixture of videos, photos and reviews and it’s amazing to see how much they’ve packed in so far, including Greek island hopping, seeing the Great Wall of China and trying authentic German food and beer in Bavaria.

They faced adventures together, even at high altitudes

Round We Go is where childhood sweethearts Ryan and Laura fill you in on their travels. Whilst they were making their way around the world, they helped at an orphanage in Zambia in 2010, which changed their lives forever. As well as supporting the children of Oz Kids International via their blog, they ran the Chicago Marathon to raise money for the cause. Their blog also features inspiring photo essays from countries including Nepal and India.

Travel with a Couple was the brainchild of Unny and Bindhu, a married couple who have been travelling around India and the Himalayas since 2004 and creating photo essays as they go. Basically you get the inside track on what to see in this beautiful part of the world. Their recent trip to Italy is also worth a read, though the food photos will make you hungry!

Borebags, a.k.a. Donna and Gareth, are certainly not as boring as the title might suggest. This Irish pair’s blog is full of exciting travel photos from across the globe, and it’s been running for over two years now. They began their trip at Belfast City Airport and have now worked their way round South-East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. If you’re feeling brave then have a look at their detailed photo gallery of Gareth’s freestyle bungee experience.

We Travel and Eat does what it says on the tin. Mia and Jordan are seeking cool and interesting food when they’re on an adventure. Jordan takes the photos (he’s handy with a wok as well), Mia does the writing and they both do the eating! They’ve also met a baby tiger in Mexico, which luckily didn’t try to eat them.

Globetrotter Girls are Dany and Jess, out to conquer the world together and promote LGBT travel. As well as writing great pieces on the awkwardness of asking for a one bed room in Latin America and searching for vegetarian food in the southern states of the USA, they have a cool Polaroid of the Week feature which gives you an insight into their journey.

Travels with Two is a great site for anyone thinking about adventure as a couple. Adam and Melanie give honest advice alongside keeping a log of their own trips. You can take a look at their binders for detailed guides on couples travel in countries including Spain and Sweden, as well as hearing Melanie being grilled over the radio by a travel guru on her most emotional travel experience.

As you can see, taking a holiday with your partner can lead to some amazing adventures. These bloggers have shown that there’s so much more to couples’ travel than a romantic minibreak – you can tailor-make your trip to fit around both of your needs, and bring back some fantastic shared memories.

You should check out Married With Luggage. They are Warren and Betsy, a really inspirational couple - not just with travel advice but on how to live "The Good Life" and what's really important. I can't take off round the world at the moment due to family commitments but I use a lot of their other advice. http://www.MarriedWithLuggage.com
